#10 最強のコンビネーション
( Saigou no Konbineeshyon - The strongest combination )

#11 生皮の仮面
( Namakawa no kamen - Mask of skin )

Two weeks have passed since the 'entrance test' to KB. Aya and Ken, having spoken to KR, are back in New York to find Yuki and take him with them. They do so, speaking briefly with Doctor D in the process and learning of a strange fire some time back. That night, standing by a river, Yuki mentions that Akagawa's body went missing. He also speaks of wanting to be strong, and wanting to know who those people ( i.e. Mihirogi and Chloe ) were, because they would be his enemies - he wants revenge.

There's an interruption, though, in the form of a masked, cloaked attacker with curved metal blades for weapons. Meanwhile, back in Europe, Michel and Chloe are on a mission, and finish off the target - who happens to look roughly the same at the one encountered by the others.

When the fighting is done, Ken notices that Yuki looks quite traumatised by the severed arm of the attacker, and says that if Yuki is serious about going with them, there'll be lots of incidents like this - so if he goes with them he'll go with a sense of death. As this conversation is going on, Aya makes an angry phonecall to KR and Mihirogi, asking them what they are hiding, and also asking if they can call themselves 'justice' if they don't mind crushing the weak for the sake of their ideals. Mihirogi says the answer is 'no', speaks of the situation at hand instead, and ends by saying that the target is in the UK.

#12 Rusted wings

Krypton Brand Side B receive their first full team mission - to stop the masked men encountered earlier. Michel tries to be friendly to Yuki, but the gesture is not appreciated.

In any case, they find their target, who is indeed formidable. When they do take him down ( alive ), they get another surprise; the man's face is the same as that of the man in New York, and bears surgical scars. Later, Mihirogi talks about Free, who was a member of the Krypton Brand Side A team, but disappeared on a mission. His status was never confirmed. The face of their target has apparently been made to look like Free's, which convinces Mihirogi that Free is still alive. Whoever is behind this all is using dummies to make it seem like these are KB's deeds, and thus capturing users of the Orphan Drug.

Having gotten a lead from their target, they reach a building and eventually end up setting out to rescue Free. There are two routes; Michel and Yuki are to take one, and the remaining three the other.

#13 恥と誇り
( Haji to hokori - Shame and pride )

Michel and Yuki end up listening in on the conversation of two men who have been collecting the bodies of the Orphan Drug users, so as to obtain samples. Yuki, enraged, wants to kill them - Michel tries to dissuade him.

By now, Aya, Ken and Chloe have made it to the cells, having gotten in via underground passages in the previous chapter. It takes a while, but they find the original Free. Chloe stops Yuki and Michel's arguing - by now Michel has slapped Yuki and has also started to cry - with a sharp "Shut up!", then tells Michel that they've found the original Free: "He whom you have pride in; the enemy of your parents--..."

#14 He's my Daisy

We learn that Free killed Michel's parents in a mission, but saved the young Michel, who was then brought up by KR. The IRA is also involved. In the cells, though, Free has been partly freed, but doesn't respond to Chloe until Michel is mentioned - upon which he suddenly breaks free of the remaining restraints and turns upon the three KB members who are there. Michel and Yuki find themselves unable to get past a giant fan in the underground route, and Mihirogi eventually says that the team should kill Free and withdraw. She does, however, ask if Michel would like to do it himself, because apparently that was Free's only wish.

At that, Yuki abruptly says that they'll find their own way out. He asks Mihirogi to detonate earlier-placed explosives, and the two manage to get past, though they still have to make it out. Far removed from the action, KR is there to confront the targets. Naturally, Aya and the rest decide not to kill Free, but launch another attack - and thus the volume ends.
